RC-Projet description
Compared to V1, the whole project has been revised so that the new V2 Shock Caps can now work as a bladder or an emulsion.
The new V2 Shock Caps has four bleed holes (compared to three on V1) and an inclined hole for securing an M2 screw.
The new V2 Shock Caps can also be used for vented systems, but only in combination with honeycomb bladders.
The inner chamber has been redesigned to maximise performance in both emulsion and bladder systems.
Allen screw for emulsion: After several disappointing tests with commercial screws, we decided to design and produce our own Allen screw for new V2 Shock Caps.
Specifications:
- Material: Alloy steel with strength class 12.9 (1200 N/mm²)
- Emulsion seals: The emulsion screw seal has a rectangular cross-section with a small pocket to facilitate and speed up operations. This also ensures that the seal is not damaged during disassembly.
-
Honeycomb bladders: The bladders have been completely redesigned to fit inside the new shock caps. The volumes, sections and hardness have been redesigned to minimise rebound during assembly and reduce rebound gain after each run.
The bladders have a concavity to accommodate the piston retainer nut, ensuring that the up-travel is not limited (unlike with some other bladders). This innovative design also avoids any risk of damaging the bladder during heavy impact, ensuring the shaft moves in a linear fashion. -
Bumpy Bladders: This new option was not present in the previous V1 version and came as a big surprise to our test drivers. It is a combination of emulsion and honeycomb, and is not suited to all conditions, but where it worked, the performance results were amazing.
The air-side design features an internal grid that connects and reinforces the central and lateral sides, enabling the bladder to retain its original shape even during heavy impact.
The oil side design shares the same philosophy as the honeycomb design.
